inflation!!

I know it has been quite sometime since i posted. But I have been reading my friends' journal all the while. It has been a long hibernation and here i am now....:-)
It has been a while since i am back in bangalore. - yeah , the good old bangalore - i really love bangalore ,even with the ever-increasing density of population and traffic-jams..

I would want to write about something which i have been reading in the newspapers of late - Inflation. Just read that food inflation has climbed upto 15.7 percent. The spiralling vegetable prices ,it seems ,is the main culpirit.Apart from the knee-jerk reactions from govt, is it really doing sufficient to control it?.Everybody seems to be looking at RBI to wave its magical wand (read increase the repo-rates).But is this all that can be done?.

Why is that we do not have sufficient steps to improve storage capacities for farm produce?(there by not helping people to hoard off commodoties). When we have climatactic predictions available , why is that steps not taken to protect farming when we can anticipate a heavy monsoon or bad rain?.In a developing country such as India, why are we not using technology increasingly to improve efficiency in agriculture.

Even though more than 50% of people work in agriculture sector, just about 18% of the GDP come from it. Why is there such a disparity?. The growth rate is below 4%.

Atleast for now the government has put off the thoughts of deregulating the vegetable prices.
(mostly because of upcoming elections). Will deregulation cause it to follow petrol prices upward?.

These are questions that have popped up in my mind. Would want to spend sometime researching about their answers.

Memoirs

A tiring week comes to an end..Was under some pressure to finish some work on friday.Cudnt finish it.

Its 'aaraattu '(Sacred bath) at the varaha temple in my home town.'Aaraattu' festival lasts for 8 days starting from the 'kodiyettam'.On each of these days there wud be 'sadya' called 'Sambradhan' at the temple. The festival comes to an end  on the 8th day with the bathing of god at the pond in temple.
There will be lot of visitors at our home during these days and everyone would be in a happy mood.

Since it is vacation lots of friends will have come to their relative's houses nearby.and there used to be a big gang of friends raring to run to the ground after the 'sambraadhan'.Jithu, amrithraj, dayan, jayaram, raju, sreenath, vittal, mayesh, jagadeesh, sreenivasan, arun all wud be there..:)..But with big houses having encroached to our playing area,we have stopped playing anymore there.Everyone have grown up and the enthusiasam also has died down..:(.

The weather is really good today. 'Mazha peythu thornirikkunnu'. :).
We plan to go to the indian restaurant for the dinner.

I love this song a lot...'Aadya vasathame'.Music by late Ravendran master. One of the many memorable songs which he has created for us .and that in the beautiful voice of chitra.

Its really a treat for the soul when chitra sings the  following lines in this song.beautiful lyrics too..

1.'ezhazhakulloru vaar mayil peda than souhrada peelikalode..' - the 'anupallavi'  (2nd section of the song)

2.'ponnusha sandhya than chippiyil veenoru vaidoorya renuve pole '..- (3rd section of the song)

3 cheers to Deepak,Sehwag n Sachin

to Deepak for doing well for his interview for the post of lecturer at SJCET,Palai.  ..They will let him know the results within a week.Waiting to hear that good news...Hard to describe how much happy i feel when i chat with him..

to Sehwag and Sachin for their performace at kochi..:)..sorry  if you dont like cricket, but cudnt resist writing abt this...Sachin turned his arm once again at Kochi. and i was really happy to see that cute little smile on his face when he got those wickets..

A funny thing during the presentation ceremony:
Sehwag just ran and picked his trophy from the table before Ravi shastri  could even ask  the distinguised guest to present the Man of the Match Award..
Shastri's comment was: " Well..Sehwag has picked it up himself...There is nothing wrong this man can do at the moment!". :)

I need to go to home now and cook something...Thinking of rice and yesterday's dhal in fridge.
